Is my mouse dead?

Finally I've had some time to tweak my NetBSD. I have X running and I have installed Ratpoison and JWM. Unfortunately, I've not been able to get the serial mouse configured. Furthermore, I can't even remember if this mouse functioned when I last used it a couple of years ago. Probably it did, as otherwise I probably would not have saved it. Or...

As the old computer does not have any PS/2 or USB ports it seems I have to learn to live without a mouse.

I bet you could find a USB to serial port adapter on Amazon...

Sure I could find an adapter, but there is no point in paying for such hardware. Even the shipping would cost more than the computer :-)

I'm enjoying your NetBSD rants. I'm thinking about grabbing a CD when the final of 5 comes out.

Greetings, Mikko.
In first place, congrats for your work on the blog. It was really missing some blog of its kind. Some time ago, I almost started one, but I found yours.
Now, one question. How much ram and hd is your netbsd machine using up to, just after the login? And what are your most memory consumers apps?
To exchange some info... :)
My present experience with netbsd on a pentium 200mmx with 128mb is taking up to 44mb at the first prompt without X interface, and only ssh running on the back (of course there are others; consider it just a out-of-the-box approach).
With DSL Linux I reached 44mb with X and complete fluxbox graphical interface, samba, iptables, ssh and dhcpd (acting as a gateway).
Keep up the good work.
See u. :)
